Arsenal and Chelsea blow! as Barcelona set to sign Lyon defender Samuel Umtiti
Lyon starlet Samuel Umtiti has snubbed Arsenal and Chelsea in favour of a move to Barcelona, according to reports in France.
The 22-year-old has been tipped as a future star, having already made over 160 senior appearances.
Arsene Wenger’s Gunners and Antonio Conte’s Blues have been scouting the centre-back for a few months and it was rumoured they were ready to make moves this summer.
But, according to LeDauphine.com, Umtiti is on the brink of signing for Barcelona instead.
The Spanish champions are in the need of a new centre-back with Javier Mascherano reportedly on his way out of the Nou Camp.
As a result, Barca have swooped for Umtiti and they are hoping to tie up a £24m deal in the coming days.
